minus 24 again this morning

Last year our landlord gave us an Amaryllis bulb and it grew 3 long green leaves through the months.  They got limp and I got crazy and clipped the leaves off completely this fall, down to the bulb, and it sat there dormant for a long time.  Upon my return it had one singular sprout almost 3 feet high.  And today, voila’, there are beautiful Amaryllis flowers atop!  An oasis in all this white.  Kind of makes me reflect on how God is The Gardener as in Hugh B. Brown’s Story of the Currant Bush.

To my sisters:  Remember Amaryllis Wallace?  I always loved her name.   I keep thinking of her as I watch these flowers…

Everywhere, including all around the church building and at my back door as well, I see tracks of hungry animals approaching the buildings looking for food or warmth or access.  The snow is very deep this year and the temps have been chilly even by my internal thermostat.

What a beautiful flower. This boy that had a HUGE crush on me in high school gave me an amaryllis once for Christmas, but it never bloomed. I always said it was a symbol of our love. Glad you have something to brighten a snowy day(s).
