I’ve had a good day.

Part of the Fur Rondy event in Anchorage today was the Running of the Reindeer.

It has been warmer here than there for days and days, maybe weeks. Just sayin’…

I just heard that song on the Oldies Radio Station at work on Saturday.

These ice sculptures are appearing and emerging from blocks of ice around town. It’s the little joys, right? I hope to capture more for you.

Yesterday was clear and cold and we took the 10 minute drive to the coast in Kenai. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of the views of Mt. Redoubt across the inlet. The lookout was so icy I could hardly stand (even in my yak trax) to take this photo. And there was a family sledding down to the beach below on sheer ice! I just couldn’t watch.

This has been a bittersweet year and I’m ready to move on with optimism for 2010.

I just took this photo of the sunset from my back door about half an hour ago. Then as I closed the glass door two moose went trotting by! There have been many “otherworldish” colors on display in the skies here lately. At sunrise and sunset. I really can’t capture the magnificence.

The cat thinks the Christmas Tree skirt is her playtime tent. She’s constantly under it, in it, hiding and pawing out from it, and tearing it down. She takes her toy mouse in there and stolen chess pieces.

That’s all…. just sayin’.

A very chilly and windy day at the beach today. Still I have to go there every chance I get. This beach is 10 minutes from our apartment and we’ve been here a year now.

There is this little restaurant for sale about a mile or two from the beach pictured if any of you are interested…
